Hey there, I'm Martina. Day to day, I navigate the landscape of my own mind through art and words, sharing my process with the world online.

I had another therapy session lately. As usuall after 2-3 weeks. I was happy to report three day trip to Prague during last weekend, second travel abroad this year, and not that happy to mention I had yet again several anger issues. And then the question came.

„What else did happened? Anything you want to talk about?“

I thought for a second. Ten seconds. Fifteen...

„I don’t know? At home, I don’t remember what happened yesterday. Two weeks is a long time.“

Why I lost the ability to remember ordinary days?

I guess it’s due to high stress levels – last twelve months were pitch point crazy (my dad, fortunetly, got tremendously better, my grandpa is not suffering anymore) and I was always stressing about something before.

Stress is something we are living with and living in in this current world. It’s not that easy to relax, to slow down. I’m trying to - one week is a little success, another not at all. Tension, poor sleep, low energy, struggling to focus on tasks, dying creativity, lost ability to make a decision... The list of consequencies can go on.

How to unwind?

Question I ask myself almost daily. Art should be obvious answer for me.

„Why don’t you create more?“ asked me my aunt recently.

„Because I don’t have the energy.“

„How come? Creating is supposed to recharge you, isn’t it?“

Oh well, it should. It does when I can keep my eyes open, my head up. When I manage to take time for myself.

Don’t get me wrong. I love creating. I love drawing and painting, I love writing, I love DIY. But still I struggle to do things I love so much. And I know I’m not alone. What is my low effort creating? Decorating my bullet journal – no elaborate spreads but a collage or only a sticker here and there. A bit of something nice.

I bullet journal since 2019 and I went through different styles. I used to keep memories more, now my journal became a planner and a task list.

And I don’t remember what happened yesterday.

So, I invite you to try some form of memory keeping, to notice ordinary days, highs and lows and middles. Anything. Few words, photo or a doodle. So we remember what happened.

I’m starting a monthly newsletter in September where I will reflect a little bit on my life and creating, share my inspiration, my work in progress and where I will bring you a little something to print and/or use (digitally) – a postcard, stickers, a background for your smartphone, little bit and pieces as I will experiment. I want to give you those moments I notice and remember, to remind you to slow down sometimes.
